The Lord Reigns in Holiness and Justice

**The Lord Reigns: A Story of God’s Holiness and Justice**

In the days when the tribes of Israel were scattered across the land, yet bound by covenant to the Lord, there arose a great yearning among the people to remember the majesty of their God. The priests and elders gathered in the assembly, recalling the words of the psalmist: *”The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!”* (Psalm 99:1).

### **The Throne of the Almighty**

High above the earth, unseen by mortal eyes, the Lord sat enthroned in unapproachable light. The foundations of His palace were righteousness and justice, and the air shimmered with the radiance of His holiness. Mighty cherubim, their wings outstretched, surrounded Him, their voices a ceaseless chorus: *”Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”*

Beneath His feet was a pavement of sapphire, clear as the heavens, and from His presence flowed rivers of living fire—not to consume, but to purify. The earth below trembled at His presence, not in terror, but in reverence, for the mountains melted like wax before the Lord, the Maker of all things.

### **The Lord’s Faithful Servants**

In the land of Israel, the people remembered the days of old, when Moses and Aaron stood before the Lord as His chosen servants. They recalled how the Lord had spoken to Moses in the burning bush, how He had parted the Red Sea, and how He had given the Law upon Mount Sinai.

One elder, his beard white with age, lifted his voice and said, *”He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies and the statute that He gave them”* (Psalm 99:7). The people bowed their heads, remembering how Moses had interceded for them when they had sinned, how Aaron had borne the sins of the people upon his breastplate, and how the Lord had forgiven them—not because of their righteousness, but because of His mercy.

### **The Call to Worship**

A prophet arose among them, a man whose eyes burned with divine fire. *”Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His holy mountain!”* he cried. *”For the Lord our God is holy!”* (Psalm 99:9).

The people fell to their knees, their faces to the ground. The priests lifted their hands, the Levites sounded the trumpets, and the singers raised their voices in a hymn of praise. The very ground seemed to shake with the weight of glory, and for a moment, the veil between heaven and earth grew thin.

Then, in the silence that followed, a whisper swept through the crowd—a whisper of awe, of reverence, of holy fear. For they knew that the God who had delivered their fathers was still mighty to save. The Lord who had answered Moses and Aaron, who had guided Samuel and David, was still enthroned above the cherubim, still robed in majesty, still ruling in justice and mercy.

### **The Everlasting King**

As the sun set over the hills of Judah, the people departed to their homes, their hearts full. They knew that though kingdoms would rise and fall, though men would rebel and nations rage, the Lord would reign forever.

For He is holy.

And His name is to be feared.

And His justice will prevail.

Thus the people of God rested in the truth of His eternal dominion, and the earth stood still in reverence before the King of all creation.
