The Beginning of Everything
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.”
Imagine a time before time, a realm of pure existence where God spoke the Word, and this Word wasn’t just a sound but a force that shaped the very fabric of reality. From the void, light broke forth—an overwhelming brilliance that filled the universe. Every star, planet, and creature was formed by the Word. The Word was life itself, the spark of creation.
In this moment, life was born, and that life was the light for all of humanity. But darkness existed too, a void that could not overcome this light. It tried, but the light always shone brighter, guiding all who sought it.
The Messenger of Light
“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.”
Into the world stepped John the Baptist, not as the light itself but as a witness to it. His voice echoed through the wilderness, calling out for people to prepare their hearts for the one true light. Clothed in rough garments, standing by the river, John spoke with fiery conviction.
“I am not the light,” he would say, “but I have come to prepare the way for Him.” His words drew crowds, but his message was always about the one who was coming—Jesus, the true light.
The Word Becomes Flesh
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
Then came a moment unlike any before it: the Word, the creator of all things, became flesh. Born into this world as a man, Jesus came quietly and humbly, living among us. The glory of God was visible in him, full of grace and truth, yet many did not recognize him.
The world he had created did not know him, but to those who believed in him, he gave the right to become children of God. This was no ordinary birth; it was the ultimate expression of love.
John’s Testimony
“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
One day, John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and knew instantly that this was the one he had been waiting for. “Look, the Lamb of God!” John cried. This was no ordinary man. He had existed before John, even though he was younger.
John baptized with water, but he knew Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit. He had seen a dove descend from heaven and remain on Jesus, a sign from God confirming His identity.
Jesus Gathers His First Followers
“Follow me,” Jesus said.
After John’s powerful declaration, two of his disciples immediately began following Jesus. Jesus turned and asked them, “What do you want?” They called him “Rabbi” and asked where he was staying. Jesus simply replied, “Come and see.”
One of them, Andrew, went straight to his brother Simon and declared, “We have found the Messiah!” When Simon came to Jesus, Jesus looked into his heart and said, “You will be called Peter,” giving him a new identity that would shape his future.
The Calling of Nathanael
“Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
The next day, Jesus found Philip and asked him to follow. Philip found Nathanael and excitedly told him that they had found the one Moses and the prophets had written about—Jesus of Nazareth. Nathanael, skeptical, asked, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
But when Nathanael met Jesus, Jesus amazed him by revealing intimate knowledge: “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” In awe, Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God, the King of Israel!”
The Promise of Greater Things
“You will see greater things than these.”
Jesus smiled at Nathanael and told him that if he was impressed by what he had just heard, he would see even greater things. “You will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
This was a promise of a future filled with miracles, revelations, and a divine mission that would change the world forever. Jesus wasn’t just a teacher or a prophet—He was the bridge between heaven and earth, the fulfillment of all that had been promised.
Conclusion
This story is one of light piercing the darkness, the Word becoming flesh, and the beginning of a journey that would lead to the transformation of humanity. Jesus, the light of the world, invites all to come and see—to follow him and witness the glory of God through grace and truth.
