Once there was a man of deep faith, whose trust in Jehovah was as steadfast as the relentless waters of a flowing river. His days were filled with hardship, but his heart was always brimming with hope. Alone and surrounded by dangers on every side, he prayed, “Thou art my refuge, O Lord. I take shelter in thee and beg that thou never let me be put to shame.”
His cries echoed throughout his solitary predicament as he pleaded with God for deliverance from his enemies and justice upon them. “Thy righteousness, O Lord, is my delivery. In the face of those who scheme against me, lend your ear to me and save me.”
He beseeched God to be his fortress, a rock of habitation for his battered spirit. He remembered with tears how God had commanded his protection all his life. “Thou art my rock and my fortress,” he would often declare in the midst of his adversaries.
He implored the Lord to free him from the wicked, the unrighteous, and the cruel. His trust in Jehovah was unwavering, for God was his hope from his youth. With every breath he recollected, “You took me out of my mother’s womb; You are the One who has kept me alive.”
The man was a marvel to many, for his faith was resolute despite his trials. From him flowed ceaseless praise for his refuge, his God. He asked God not to abandon him in his old age or when his strength started to fail, for his tormentors taunted him, proclaiming God had forsaken him.
Despite these threats, the faithful man called out to God to draw near and hasten His aid. He prayed for the adversaries of his soul to feel shame and be consumed. Hoping against hope, he chose to continue praising Jehovah more and more every day, speaking of God’s righteousness, and sharing the stories of His salvation.
Even in his old age, he declared the incredible works of the Lord in all its glory, praying not to be forsaken until he had declared God’s strength to the next generation. He extolled the high righteousness of God, asking who could compare to His mighty deeds and His ability to bring life amidst troubles.
He asked God to augment his strength and comfort him. He promised to praise God with the psaltery, to sing praises with the harp, and to express his joy for the redemption of his soul through songs.
His story stands as a testament of unwavering faith and trust in God’s deliverance, a tale of fulfilled promises, a narrative of hope for generations to come. For he earnestly believed and declared, “My tongue shall talk of thy righteousness all day long; for they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.”
