Title: The Exodus and God’s Dominion
In a time long past, when historic events unfolded and supernatural forces shaped the world, a tale was etched into hearts and histories. This particular saga starts when the nation of Israel, the house of Jacob – a people with a language unique and strange – was delivered from the powerful clutches of the great Egyptian empire.
The Pharaoh’s heart grew hard and he refused to free God’s people, turning a deaf ear to Moses’ pleas. It was in the midst of this crisis, that God’s power was unleashed. Judah became His holy sanctuary, a domain for the divine, Israel, His dominion.
When the moment of liberation arrived, God parted the Red Sea, conjuring up a way in the heart of the waters. As the children of Israel crossed on dry ground, the sea saw the impending event – God’s hand of deliverance at work – and ceased its natural flow. Even the Jordan River, characteristically relentless and untamed, was driven back, its mighty currents stopped in their tracks.
Not only did the water bodies yield to God’s command but the very mountains, almighty and towering, were moved. They leaped and bounded in response to God’s power, and the lesser hills too danced around like joyous lambs. A spectacle of awe and majesty! Yet amid the amazement, an inquiry arose, ‘What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? Thou Jordan, that thou turnest back? Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams; Ye little hills, like lambs?’
The answer lay in their Creator’s authority. The same Lord who had commanded their existence, asked for their subjugation. ‘Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob’, was the divine decree.
Miracles did not cease with the parting of seas and the dancing of hills. In the harsh wilderness, God cared for His chosen people. Striking a barren rock, He transformed it into a bubbling pool of water quenching the thirst of the multitudes. The hard flint too yielded under the hand of God, turning into a fountain of lifesaving waters.
The story of Israel’s journey out of Egypt thus unfolded, marking God’s sovereignty over natural and supernatural forces. As this tale of liberation, obedience, and divine providence is recounted, it forever resonates with God’s supreme power, His boundless love, and His promise of deliverance. As the house of Jacob traveled from being stranger in a strange land to becoming a chosen nation under God’s dominion, the words echo: ‘For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.’
The miraculous Exodus wasn’t merely a historical event, but an eternal testament to God’s power, faithfulness, and redemptive love. The God of Jacob still reigns, and His dominion extends to the ends of the Earth.
