In the days of old, when the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness, the voice of Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, “On the first day of the first month, you shall rear up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.” And so, Moses heeded the command of the Lord and set out to follow His instructions carefully.
Moses gathered the people and, with reverence, they began the work of setting up the tabernacle. They placed the ark of the testimony within, shielding it with a veil. The table and the candlestick were arranged, each in their designated places. The golden altar for incense was set before the ark, and the door to the tabernacle was screened.
The altar of burnt-offering was positioned at the entrance of the tabernacle, and the laver was placed for cleansing between the tent of meeting and the altar. The courtyard was prepared, and the gate screened. Following the Lord’s commands, Moses anointed the tabernacle, its furnishings, and the altar, making them holy unto Jehovah.
Next, Moses brought Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting. He washed them with water, clothed them in the holy garments, anointed them, and sanctified them to serve as priests before the Lord.
When all preparations were complete, on the first day of the second year, Moses raised up the tabernacle. The ark of the testimony, the table, the candlestick, and all the sacred items were carefully placed in their respective locations.
As Moses finished the work, a cloud descended upon the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. The presence of the Lord was so overwhelming that Moses could not enter.
Throughout their journeys, the children of Israel followed the guidance of the Lord. When the cloud of Jehovah remained over the tabernacle, they stayed put. But when the cloud lifted, they packed up and moved forward.
By day, the cloud of Jehovah covered the tabernacle, and by night, there was a fire within it, illuminating the way for all the house of Israel.
And so, under the guidance of Jehovah and the leadership of Moses and Aaron, the people of Israel traveled through the wilderness, carrying with them the presence and glory of the Almighty God.
