In the early days after the Resurrection of Christ, there existed a group of faithful believers who ministered the word of God fervently despite facing enormous challenges. They were named ‘Vessels of Light’ because they embraced their calling, having been shown mercy by the Lord.
These Vessels did not engage in acts of dishonesty or deceitfulness. They renounced every hidden thing related to shame and disposed of all craftiness. They believed that spreading the word of God must be done in all truth and purity. Instead of manipulating the word to suit their needs or attempt to manipulate people, they shared the unadulterated Gospel, aiming to touch every man’s conscience and illuminate the path to Godliness.
The Vessels preached the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, even though many still were incapable of understanding the gospel’s true light. They believed that the god of this world had shrouded the minds of the unbelievers, preventing the promise of Christ from dawning upon them. Yet, the Vessels did not seek to glorify themselves. They preached Christ Jesus as Lord and saw themselves as but humble servants in His divine cause.
Believing in the promise of God, the Vessels carried the divine light in their humble beings, like earthen jars holding a precious treasure. They knew the power they were given exceeded anything earthly and was divine. Their lives were filled with trials and tribulations – they were baffled but never in despair, persecuted but never abandoned, knocked down but never destroyed. Physically, they endured suffering; internally, they experienced the life of Jesus. Their physical struggles reflected Jesus’ death, to allow those observing them could witness the life of Christ being manifested within their mortal bodies.
They held fast to the spirit of faith, declaring their belief fearlessly. They trusted that the same God who raised Jesus would also raise them and present them alongside all believers. Every tribulation they faced, they considered it beneficial for their congregation, that grace being multiplied would induce abundant thanksgiving to God’s glory. They saw their hardships yet did not lose heart. As their physical strength waned, their spiritual power continued to renew by the day.
Their journey was full of temporary afflictions that weighed lightly upon them for they looked beyond the present suffering and focused on the eternal glory awaiting them. They understood that what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Thus, they persevered, steadfast in their faith, continuing in their divine task of spreading the gospel of Christ Jesus.
